A lovely site beside the Bay of Biscay. A building—or, rather, a shelter—for a Cantabrian bowling ground with capacity for 1800 spectators and complementary services: changing rooms, lockers, etc. The long, low, narrow roof rests on a timber truss structure and undulates upwards over the tiered seating, creating a silhouette that is an allusion to the parabolas described by the ball’s trajectory. To reduce the visual impact of the building, the green and the side stands are sunk into the ground. The seating at the ends, which offers the best views of the players’ throws, accommodates the services beneath.
