It was no easy task to design a building that would take in the 1929 World Fair restaurant, a building of relative interest on which only the dilapidated façade remained, much less when the annexed building was to be considerably larger than the existing one. To ensure the old façade some basic dignity, the layout of the new building is staggered, forming large terraces outside the bedrooms and relinquishing all protagonism to the old fabric.

For the same reason, the extension was stuccoed camouflage green. As the gardens of Miramar are laid out along the front, the spacious main entrance is a primarily pedestrian area opened up in the completely new rear façade. The interior is laid out around the central atrium that runs the height of the building, embracing the monumental stairway.
