Publicity support Sevilla, 1996

with Eduardo Egozcue

OTB designed the piece for a competition in Seville. The result was risky in that it reduced the space available for advertisements by one third. Instead of the usual cylindrical column on a circular base, he opted for a bean-like base with two wide surface facings for the posters, since they are normally read from two directions - the perspective of pedestrians and drivers coming from either direction on the street, but not from an entire range of 360º. In this way, he also managed to slim down the normally excessively large advertising pillars.

The loss of graphic space - which is usually neither seen nor read, was offset by a gain in urban space for the city, and a reduction in the cluttering effect on our streets. This was also the view taken by the Seville City Hall, which chose this slimline model for their city.
