In the 1980s, Artespaña, a public company given over to promotion and sales of high quality craftwork, decided to enter the design sector so as to reinforce its repertoire and preserve certain craft processes. As a result, the Azimut collection, in which well-known designers and architects designed furniture incorporating craft elementscomponents, was launched in 1986.

The idea was to establish a collection harnessing the rich Spanish craftwork tradition, which seemed set to decline at that time. Among the designers was OTB, who designed a piece to hide the television set and other domestic appliances. When not needed the TV screen was shielded from view by covered by a marquetry panel. In essence, the piece was a latter day bureau, designed to contain, not books, but the ever-present modern-day television set.
