Wall clock Ballesta, 1988

Producer: Bd Barcelona Design

(Out of production)

A time-measuring device designed as an alternative to the conventional clock. Miguel Martínez and Eduard Farré invented the Massic system for measuring time, whose basic principle is a constant imbalance of mass.

Each arrow caused an eccentric mechanism to revolve at a certain speed. To launch the invention in 1988, Bd invited designs from Joaquín Berao, Sar Bossaert and Josep Maria Fort, Cristian Cirici, Pedro Miralles, Pep Bonet and OTB. OTB designed a clock, leaving the arrows hanging between a catenary of chromed brass with the different hours appearing as balls and numbers. However, such was the complexity of the invention that the various designs never got beyond the prototype phase.
